Hi, I’m Hazel, the maker behind Hazel’s Jewellery Shop.
I began making jewellery in 2014 after struggling to find pieces that truly complemented my unique bridal style. What started as a personal creative outlet quickly grew into something much more meaningful.
Alongside running my jewellery business, I work part-time as a Healthcare Assistant in an SEN school, a role I find incredibly rewarding. I’m also very lucky to live near Bournemouth beach with my supportive husband, Oli, and our very fluffy lionhead bunny, Zelda.
Outside the studio, I’m passionate about vintage fashion, supporting small local businesses, and making more eco-conscious choices.
My Jewellery Journey
In the early days, my jewellery making focused on beading and simple designs. I opened my first Etsy shop in 2015 and began selling fashion jewellery more widely.
Over the years, I explored many techniques and materials, including polymer clay and resin. While I enjoyed experimenting, something never quite felt right. Fashion jewellery limited both the materials and techniques I could use, and I found myself constantly searching for the perfect charm or finding to bring my ideas to life. I also struggled with the fact that fashion jewellery doesn’t age well, once it tarnishes, there’s no way back!
I knew I wanted to create jewellery that would last longer, both in quality and meaning.
Discovering Silver Clay
I’d known about silver clay for some time and had done online learning around it, but it wasn’t until the start of 2020 that I finally took the leap and bought my first pack.
It was exciting and nerve-wracking. Silver clay was far more expensive than anything I’d worked with before, and I worried whether my skills would be good enough. But very quickly, I realised I had found the material I’d been searching for all along.
Silver clay allows me to create designs completely from scratch — shaping, texture, and detail all come from my hands. That creative freedom changed everything.
How I Work Today
Today, I work primarily with silver clay and sterling silver, often incorporating carefully chosen gemstones into my designs. I create one-of-a-kind and small-batch pieces, using tiny 3D details to tell stories and add character.
My work is inspired by vintage fashion, but inspiration can strike anywhere! Every piece is made slowly, thoughtfully, and with intention.
Sharing the Craft
As my love for silver clay grew, so did my desire to share it.
I now run jewellery-making workshops, giving others the opportunity to slow down, step away from everyday busyness, and experience the joy of creating something meaningful with their own hands. The workshops aren’t about perfection — they’re about creativity, and enjoying the process.

I started out making jewellery to go with my unique bridal style & haven't stopped since!
