For me, the sea has always been a place to slow down. It's the sound of the waves, collecting shells along the shore, and those little seaside souvenirs that bring back memories of summer holidays.

What does "handmade" really mean?

These days, the term handmade can mean a lot of different things.

Sometimes it means assembling pre-made components. Sometimes it means adding a finishing touch to something that's been manufactured elsewhere.

At Hazel's Jewellery Shop, every piece is made from start to finish by hand.

Take these new statement half hoop stud earrings, for example 💜

They started life as square silver wire. From there, I cut to length, shaped, soldered, filed, refined, and polished them by hand until they became the finished earrings you see here.

✨️No mass production.
✨️No factory assembly line.
Just traditional jewellery-making techniques, patience, and a lot of polishing!

I think that's what makes handmade jewellery so special. Every piece has a story, and every piece has been crafted with care.

Until it transforms into solid silver ✨

One of the things I love most about working with silver clay is that moment when people realise it really does start as clay. 🤯

Made from tiny particles of recycled silver, water, and a natural binder, silver clay can be shaped, textured, and transformed into beautiful jewellery. Once fired, the binder burns away and the silver particles fuse together, leaving behind solid silver.

It's a process that still fascinates me, even after 6 years of working with this incredible material 🌿

And honestly? Seeing that transformation never gets old.

Today is World Pet Memorial Day 💜

This year, it feels especially meaningful as a few weeks ago, we said goodbye to our beautiful bunny Zelda after 12 wonderful years together 🌈

We brought her home as a tiny little furball, and although she started out shy, it didn't take long for her to live up to her Princess name & her mischievous side to shine through! She kept us on our toes for many years with her cheeky personality and endless adventures.

Zelda loved her toys (and she had a lot of them!), stretching out in the sunshine, cuddles and spending holidays at my Nan's house whenever we went away. I think she secretly loved it there because she could do absolutely no wrong in Nan's eyes, no matter what trouble she got herself into! 😂

Her favourite place in the world, though, was her bunny house. It cost us a small fortune, but it was worth every penny. She spent countless hours playing, digging up the floor, snoozing, and simply enjoying life in her own little kingdom 🐰🤍

The house feels much quieter now, and there isn't a day that goes by where we don't miss her.

But what a privilege it was to love her for 12 years.

Thank you for all the cuddles, laughs, the chewed toys, sunshine naps & the head binkies we never knew they were a thing until you showed them to us!
These memories we'll treasure forever 💞

Just lay the stud (decorative part hangimg over the edge), take another metal object (we had a metal ruler to hand but a hammer or a metal box/block would work well) & roll back/forth.

Make sure to keep checking your progress as a little can make a big difference!
